January 31 - February 2, 2019  The 39th Annual North Carolina Jazz Festival performance roster reads like a Who's Who of Jazz. Thursday night's special event concert begins with El Jaye Johnson - A Tribute to “The Piano Entertainer Stompin’ Grenoldo Frazier”. Next will be a tribute to Brazilian Jazz with Brazilian born vocalist Maucha Adnet and her husband Duduka da Fonseca, percussionist. Joining them will be NYC’s Harry Allen on tenor sax, re-creating the sounds of Stan Getz; Israeli born Ehud Asheri – piano; Tampa native Nate Najar – guitar; and internationally acclaimed, U.S. born, Chuck Redd on vibes. Closing the evening will be the Traditional Jazz Jam led by Adrian Cunningham, giving you a preview of the rest of the weekend.

Friday and Saturday nights' four-hour concerts feature the NCJF All-Stars, playing in seven sets each night, with a different leader for each set. Each set includes 6 or 7 fantastic musicians from around the globe.

All performances begin at 7:30 PM at the Hotel Ballast on the banks of the Cape Fear River. Contact www.ncjazzfestival.com for ticket information.
