Entrepreneurship, competitiveness, innovation and technology are key words on the Cape Fear Economic Development Council's mission list, but just as important are sustainability, smart growth, revitalization and collaboration.
Bringing business and industry to the Cape Fear region is the council's focus, but the nonprofit group works with a keen eye on the region's wonderful quality of life. Its board of directors consists of local businesspeople and entrepreneurs who care deeply about the place where they live and work.
The purpose of CFEDC is to promote economic growth focused on applied technology and the limitless potential of innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship. Priorities are to modernize the region's business identity, protect the area's fragile, coastal ecosystem and support the implementation of social, economic and environmental sustainability strategies.
Inclusive, culturally sensitive and progressive, the CFEDC provides resources and information that help businesses large and small connect to and find success in the Cape Fear area. The council's developing CleanTech Innovation Center will link green businesses with capital and public interests. The CFEDC greatly values public input, holding monthly public meetings that revolve around smart, sustainable strategies for growing the region' economy.
