The Stables at Poplar Grove offers a wonderful opportunity to the whole family to view and interact with a wide variety of farm animals which would typically be found on a working plantation. The types of animals include horses, goats, sheep, pigs, rabbits, cats, ducks, hens, and roosters. The Stables provides care and ethical treatment of animals including those that have suffered from abuse or neglect. The animals live in a safe, free-roaming, and well-maintained environment.
As part of their spring and fall school program, children of all ages can enjoy a visit to the barnyard for a truly hands-on experience.
During the months of March, April, May, September, and October, barnyard tours are scheduled twice a day for the general public Monday – Saturday at 10 AM & 2 PM.
Tickets for barnyard tours are available in the Gift Shop at the Manor House, or come back to the barnyard gate across from the Abbey Nature Preserve entrance. Tickets are $5.00 per person, and closed-toed shoes are required.
Regular feeding times are at 8 AM and 4 PM every day of the year.
PLEASE NOTE: Closed January and February.
Proceeds from barnyard tours, animal meet-and-greets, public donations and special fund-raising events help to offset the costs of feed, hay, annual vaccines, and veterinary care.
The Stables are supported and operated through the efforts of dedicated volunteers.
