This is Wilmington's only school dedicated to classical ballet. It emphasizes the fundamental basics of being a disciplined ballerina. Ballet and modern dance classes are available. Their innovative program for preschoolers (ages 0 through 5) utilizes movement, props, music and imagery games to encourage learning the joy of dance. Pre-professional training offers students the opportunity to study daily, preparing them for professional dance careers. The school offers a Broadway-based tap and jazz program and  parent/child music classes. Serious students who take four or more dance classes a week can audition for The Wilmington Ballet Company, a nonprofit, in-house youth ballet company, which performs The Nutcracker each holiday season.  The Wilmington School of Ballet participates in many outreach programs, including scholarships and summer camps for underprivileged youths.
