Introduce your young listeners or performers to orchestral music by the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra at concerts held throughout the year. The local Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Dr. Steven Errante, supports this vibrant program for children and youth. The season begins with a Halloween Matinee in October followed by a Fall Matinee in November, then a Spring concert and a final Free Family Concert in late spring. All are performed at Kenan Auditorium on the UNCW Campus on Sunday afternoons at 4 PM. Children and youth 17 years and younger enter free and adult tickets are $5, making it one of the best arts entertainment values in town.
Young performers may audition for the Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra, Junior Strings, the Junior Division Competition and the annual Richard R. Deas Student Concerto Comeptition. All Family concerts are performed by the Youth Orchestra, enhancing the appeal to children in the audience. While you're there, ask about their Birthday Club for young children and Artist-in-Residence programs in local schools.
Tickets are available at Kenan Auditorium or on the website.
