Lower Cape Fear Hospice & LifeCareCenter serves the needs of hospice patients and their families when life-limiting illness occurs. Volunteers provide respite for caregivers and much-needed emotional support for patients and their caregivers, give administrative support, assist with special events, and offer community outreach. A 15-hour volunteer training course is required. For acute hospice care and caregiver respite, hospice offers a 12-bed inpatient facility in Wilmington, a six-bed facility in Whiteville, and a seven-bed hospice care center in Bolivia.
