Throughout the year, Poplar Grove Plantation offers a wide variety of basket weaving classes for area natives and visitors. From complete beginners to advanced, Poplar Grove's classes provide hands-on instruction to help you and your friends design the ideal basket for holding an assortment of specific designs and purposes. Some of the basket classes offered this year are; Easter basket, napkin basket, hilltop chair side basket, loaf basket, market picnic basket, berry basket, American wall basket, wall, magazine, bread basket, double-bottom apple basket, double wall berry basket, large oval serving tray basket, and the perfect hostess gift basket. Beyond baskets, there is a woven bottom stool class for beginners and experienced weavers. All classes are offered between April and October, so check their schedule for the class that you want most! Poplar Grove also offers a summer camp for the basket weaving kiddos. From 9 AM-Noon in July, the drop-in camp offers trade skills in basket weaving using different materials and techniques. Cost is $15 per child and a snack is included.
